YI IoT

Pros

YI IoT delivers an intuitive setup and streamlined device management, letting users add cameras quickly, organize devices into rooms, and access live feeds with a few taps. The clean interface, guided configuration, and centralized dashboard make remote monitoring and routine controls simple for homeowners and small businesses.

YI IoT offers reliable real-time monitoring with HD live streaming, motion and person-detection alerts, and instant push notifications. Two-way audio, adjustable sensitivity, and customizable schedules reduce false alarms and let you respond immediately, improving home security and peace of mind whether you're nearby or away.

YI IoT provides flexible storage with local microSD support and optional cloud plans, letting users keep local recordings or store clips securely in the cloud. Easy video playback, sharing controls, multi-user access and regular firmware updates help maintain device performance, privacy settings, and long-term accessibility.

Cons

Heavy reliance on paid cloud services for full functionality can frustrate users. The free plan typically provides only short video retention and limited features, while advanced event history and playback require subscriptions. Local microSD storage works for basic recording but lacks convenient remote access and robust backup options.

Some users report inconsistent app performance — occasional crashes, slow live-streaming, and delayed or missed push notifications. Motion alerts can produce false positives, and video playback may buffer on weaker networks. Firmware and app updates improve stability, but experiences significantly vary by device model and network conditions and location.

Third-party integration and advanced customization are limited compared with larger smart-home ecosystems. Native support for platforms like Apple's HomeKit is minimal, and automation options are basic. Additionally, some users remain concerned about privacy and firmware transparency — enterprise-grade security, detailed audit logs, and customizable encryption settings are generally absent.
