Starbucks

Pros

The Starbucks app lets you order and pay ahead, skipping lines and saving time. Customize drinks, select pickup or curbside, and use contactless mobile payment. Real-time order status and store-specific menus speed up visits, making the Starbucks app ideal for busy mornings or quick on-the-go coffee runs.

Starbucks Rewards in the app rewards loyal customers with Stars for purchases, redeemable for free drinks and food. Enjoy personalized offers, birthday treats, and easy tracking of points and reward history. Auto-reload and saved payment methods make earning rewards effortless while tailored recommendations increase relevant promotions and value.

The app also provides practical tools—store locator, hours, and live wait-times—plus delivery integration and digital gift cards. Save favorites, view past orders, and quickly reorder commonly customized drinks. Seamless syncing across devices and secure payment options enhance convenience, making the Starbucks app a central hub for your coffee needs.

Cons

Frequent app instability can disrupt orders and payments. Users report slow loading, unexpected crashes, barcode scanning failures at POS, and delayed syncing of Stars and transactions. These reliability issues can cause payment retries, missed rewards, or order cancellations, undermining confidence in mobile ordering during busy store visits.

Payment and reward management can be confusing and restrictive. Auto-reload glitches, limited local payment options, and occasional failure to apply reward discounts frustrate users. Gift card transfers and balance issues are hard to resolve in-app, while regional feature restrictions (like mobile ordering or promotions) prevent a consistent experience across locations.

Privacy and notification practices can feel intrusive. The app requests broad permissions and relies on tracking for personalized offers, while push notifications for promotions are frequent and opt-out settings are hard to find. The interface is often cluttered with time-limited deals, making it difficult to locate order history, receipts, or relevant offers.
