Pros
Securus Mobile makes staying connected simple with mobile video visits, voice calls, and messaging from anywhere. The app's intuitive interface lets users schedule and join visits, view call history, and manage contacts—reducing travel time and enabling frequent, meaningful contact with incarcerated loved ones where facility policies allow.
Easily manage commissary and phone accounts directly in the app. Securus Mobile supports fast, secure deposits, multiple payment options, and a clear transaction history, so families can add funds, review balances, and help meet inmates’ daily needs without visiting the facility or using separate payment channels.
Built for safety and transparency, Securus Mobile integrates facility-compliant security and notifications. Users receive scheduling alerts, payment confirmations, and visit reminders while communications are monitored per corrections policies. This reduces uncertainty and helps families coordinate visits and finances with confidence and traceable records.
Cons
Securus Mobile’s pricing is often criticized for being expensive and opaque. Users report high per-minute rates for calls and video visits, plus extra fees for funding accounts or accessing certain features. These costs can add up quickly for families and create frustration over unexpected charges and limited payment options.
The app can suffer from inconsistent performance and limited functionality. Users frequently experience dropped calls, poor audio/video quality, and compatibility issues across devices. Scheduling constraints imposed by facilities, reliance on stable internet, and occasional bugs make reliable communication difficult, especially for users with slower connections or older phones.
Privacy, transparency, and customer-support concerns are common complaints about Securus Mobile. Some users question how voice and video data are handled and whether monitoring is clearly communicated. Additionally, account management can be confusing, and resolving billing disputes or technical problems often requires lengthy interactions with customer service, causing delays and stress.
