Remitly

Pros

Instant or same-day transfers to many countries via Express, with real-time tracking and timely delivery notifications. For immediate needs, Remitly's Express option completes transfers in minutes to hours, while an Economy option balances speed and cost. The app provides transparent timelines so recipients get money when expected.

Competitive exchange rates and clear, low fees help your money go further. Remitly offers two pricing choices—Express for speed and Economy for lower fees and better rates—so you can prioritize value or speed. Fees and exchange rates are shown before you send, eliminating hidden charges and enabling easy comparison.

Convenient delivery options and wide global reach make sending simple: bank deposits, cash pickup, mobile wallets and home delivery in many countries. The app supports easy bank/card funding, in-app recipient setup, multi-language support and 24/7 customer service. Remitly is licensed in multiple jurisdictions and uses encryption to protect transfers.

Cons

Remitly’s fees can be unpredictable and sometimes high. Costs vary by payment method, delivery speed, and destination — instant card-funded transfers often carry higher charges. Those comparing total cost (fees plus exchange rate) may find cheaper alternatives for certain corridors or larger transfers.

Remitly applies exchange rate markups on currency conversions, so recipients often receive less than the mid-market rate. Even with low advertised fees, the combined effect of rate margins and service charges can make transfers less cost-effective than using banks or other money transfer services with better FX pricing.

New accounts and larger transfers frequently require identity verification or additional documentation, which can delay or temporarily hold funds. Users also report slow or limited customer support response during disputes or delivery issues, creating frustration when time-sensitive transfers need quick resolution.
