Honey Smart Shopping Assistant

Pros

PayPal Honey automatically finds and applies the best coupon codes at checkout across thousands of online stores, saving you time and money. The extension and app test multiple codes instantly so you don’t have to hunt for discounts, improving conversion rates and boosting savings with minimal effort.

Honey’s Droplist and price-tracking tools monitor item prices and display historical pricing so you can buy at the right moment. Get timely alerts when products you watch drop in price, helping you avoid overpaying and increase purchase confidence with data-driven timing and better deal discovery.

Earn Honey Gold rewards on qualifying purchases that can be redeemed for gift cards, adding ongoing value to everyday shopping. The intuitive browser extension and mobile app integrate smoothly with PayPal, offering a trusted, secure experience and easy reward redemption to maximize your savings and loyalty benefits.

Cons

Savings are inconsistent. Honey relies on available coupons and affiliate deals, so users often find codes expired, irrelevant, or inapplicable. Not all retailers participate, and discounts vary by product or location, meaning the extension or app may deliver little or no real savings on many purchases.

The app and browser extension collect browsing behavior, purchase history, and account data to personalize deals and track rewards. That level of data sharing — now tied to PayPal’s ecosystem — raises privacy concerns for users who want tighter control, especially since granular data controls and third-party sharing details can be opaque.

Technical and usability issues can frustrate users. The extension may slow page loads, conflict with other add-ons, or fail to auto-apply codes. Cash-back rewards often require minimum balances or delayed payouts. Additionally, Honey’s features and retailer coverage are stronger in the U.S., limiting usefulness for international shoppers.
