myChevrolet

Pros

The myChevrolet app puts essential remote controls at your fingertips — start or stop your engine, lock or unlock doors, precondition cabin climate, and locate your vehicle instantly. These features save time and add convenience for Chevy owners, enabling secure, on-demand access to your car from anywhere via your smartphone.

Comprehensive vehicle health monitoring keeps you informed with up-to-date diagnostics, fuel or battery status, oil life, and maintenance alerts. The myChevrolet app delivers real-time reports, recall notifications, and easy service scheduling with local dealers, helping owners prevent issues, plan upkeep, and extend vehicle longevity with minimal effort.

For electric and plug-in hybrid Chevrolet models, myChevrolet offers powerful charging and trip tools: monitor battery charge, start or schedule charging sessions, precondition the cabin to conserve range, and find nearby charging stations. These features simplify EV ownership, optimize range, and make daily driving and long trips more predictable and efficient.

Cons

The myChevrolet app locks many useful functions behind a paid Connected Services or OnStar subscription, so remote start, vehicle status updates, and emergency assistance may require recurring fees. Owners without subscriptions get limited functionality, making the app less valuable and increasing total ownership costs over time.

Users commonly report connectivity and reliability problems: remote commands can be delayed or fail, real-time vehicle status sometimes shows stale information, and location or alert notifications may be inconsistent. Performance depends on cellular coverage, vehicle telematics, and app-server interactions, causing frustration when immediate control or accurate info is needed.

The app’s feature set varies widely by model, trim, region, and model year, so many owners discover limited or inconsistent functionality. Dealer integration, service scheduling, and in-app manuals aren’t uniform, and occasional bugs or slow updates leave some features unavailable or poorly implemented compared with expectations.
