Mileage Tracker by Driversnote

Pros

Automatic, GPS-powered trip detection captures every drive with timestamps, routes and odometer readings, eliminating manual entry and reducing errors. The app creates IRS-compliant mileage logs and detailed reports for tax deductions or reimbursement, so you can trust the accuracy and save time when preparing expense records and filings.

Cloud synchronization and flexible exports keep your mileage data secure and accessible across devices. Driversnote offers a web dashboard, PDF and CSV report exports, and easy integration with accounting workflows, making reimbursement, bookkeeping, and tax submission straightforward for freelancers and small fleets with customizable reporting periods and one-click download options.

Robust team and multi-vehicle management simplify tracking across employees, contractors or multiple cars. Admins can assign vehicles, review and approve trips, and export consolidated logs. Offline recording and easy manual edits ensure continuous accuracy in areas with poor signal, making the tool practical for businesses of any size and compliance.

Cons

Many important features are locked behind a subscription. The free tier is restrictive, while advanced functionality—unlimited trips, detailed analytics, automatic cloud backup, team management, and premium exports—requires paid plans. That cost can be a barrier for casual drivers, very small businesses, or anyone who only tracks mileage occasionally.

Continuous GPS tracking can noticeably drain phone battery, and background tracking may be inconsistent on some Android or iOS devices. As a result, the app can miss or split trips, requiring manual correction. Reliability often depends on device-specific permissions, power-saving settings, and cellular/GPS signal quality.

Export and integration options are limited compared with some competitors. Although you can export CSV or PDF reports, customization is basic and native integrations with accounting or expense-management platforms are sparse. Users with complex tax reporting, reimbursement workflows, or large fleets may find reporting and data management insufficient.
