Dollar General

Pros

The Dollar General app delivers big savings through digital coupons, weekly ad access, and exclusive in-app offers. Clip and apply coupons at checkout, track current promotions, and stack deals to maximize savings on household essentials, groceries, and seasonal items — making it easy to stretch your budget with every shopping trip.

The app streamlines shopping with a store locator, barcode scanner, customizable shopping lists, and mobile shopping features. Find nearby stores, scan items for price or info, save favorite products, and manage purchases on the go — ideal for busy shoppers who want fast, organized in-store or online experiences.

With a signed-in account, the Dollar General app provides personalized deals, tailored recommendations, and convenient account management. View past purchases, save payment methods and favorite stores, and receive timely notifications about new offers and weekly sales — helping users discover relevant savings and shop more efficiently.

Cons

The Dollar General app often shows limited or inaccurate inventory, listing items that are out of stock or unavailable for local pickup. Users can be misled by stale availability data, forcing extra trips or order cancellations and undermining trust when location-specific stock and online availability aren’t reliably synchronized.

Navigation and performance can be frustrating: slow load times, occasional crashes, and weak search filters make finding products difficult. The user interface lacks intuitive sorting and detailed product descriptions, so shoppers spend more time browsing than buying. These usability issues hurt conversion and discourage repeat app use.

Couponing, pricing, and checkout flows are inconsistent: digital coupons may not apply correctly, in-app prices sometimes differ from shelf or register prices, and reward redemption can be confusing. Unexpected charges and manual cashier adjustments create friction, eroding user confidence and reducing incentive to rely on the app for savings.
