Chewy

Pros

Chewy offers an enormous selection of pet supplies across brands and categories, plus easy browsing and personalized recommendations based on pet profiles. Whether food, toys, or healthcare items, the app streamlines discovery with clear categories, ingredient filters, and product reviews — making it simple to find vet-recommended products tailored to your pet.

Chewy’s Autoship subscription lets you schedule recurring deliveries with flexible timing and easy edits, providing discounted pricing and predictable delivery for essentials. Manage shipments, pause or modify orders, and enjoy savings on routine purchases; automated reminders and reorder shortcuts reduce time spent shopping and prevent last-minute runs to the store.

Chewy provides fast, reliable shipping and 24/7 customer support, including compassionate pet specialists and hassle-free returns. The app simplifies prescription ordering through an integrated pharmacy, secure transfer of vet scripts, and clear tracking updates so medications and urgent supplies arrive on time while customers get real-time help when issues arise.

Cons

Chewy can have occasional shipping delays and backorders, especially for high-demand or bulky items. Auto-ship subscriptions sometimes change delivery dates or quantities unpredictably, causing missed deliveries or duplicate orders. Tracking information isn’t always updated promptly, which can leave customers uncertain about arrival times. This unpredictability affects pet owners with time-sensitive needs.

Some prices on Chewy are higher than brick-and-mortar stores or other online retailers, and the site doesn’t always offer the lowest available deals. Limited price-matching and variable promotional timing can make it hard to know when to buy, and popular items may be frequently out of stock, requiring customers to wait for restocks or switch brands.

Customer service experiences can vary, with some users reporting slow resolution or inconsistent responses. Returns and refunds for perishable items, medications or prescriptions have tighter restrictions, and prescription medications require veterinarian verification, which can delay fulfillment and frustrate owners needing urgent refills. The phone and chat support hours may not align with every owner’s schedule.
