Cons

Booking.com’s policies and fees can be confusing. Each property sets its own cancellation, prepayment, and refund rules, and additional taxes or resort fees sometimes appear late in checkout. That variability makes it hard to compare options quickly and increases the risk of unexpected charges or nonrefundable reservations.

Property descriptions, photos, and listed amenities are sometimes inaccurate or out-of-date. Images can be staged, and smaller or independently managed properties don’t always match chain standards, so the room you receive may differ from expectations. This inconsistency can lead to disappointment on arrival and extra time resolving discrepancies.

Customer service and dispute resolution may be slow and fragmented. When problems arise—overbookings, refunds, or amenity issues—support can route you between Booking.com and the property, causing delays. Refunds and issue escalations often take time, and language or time-zone differences can make prompt resolution difficult.
