Cons

Legal and copyright risks: Z-Lib hosts a large number of copyrighted books without publisher permission. Using or downloading material from it can expose users to copyright infringement issues, takedowns and potential legal consequences. Authors and rights holders often challenge availability, and access may be blocked in some countries.

Instability and unreliable availability: Z-Lib frequently faces domain seizures, takedowns and blocked access, leading to inconsistent site availability. Search results and download links can be incomplete or broken, making it difficult to find specific editions. This instability undermines dependability for research, coursework, or professional reference needs.

Security, quality and privacy concerns: Many unofficial Z-Lib apps and mirror sites distribute files without verification, increasing risk of malware, corrupted files or poor formatting. Metadata errors and missing information are common. Additionally, creating accounts or using third‑party download tools can expose personal data and compromise user privacy.
