Alaska Airlines

Pros

The Alaska Airlines - Travel app makes booking and trip management simple: search and book flights, check in, select seats, add baggage or upgrades, and access mobile boarding passes. Its streamlined interface helps you manage reservations, make changes quickly, and avoid long lines so you can focus on your trip.

Receive real-time flight status, gate and boarding updates, and push notifications for delays or cancellations. The app’s live flight tracker and airport maps keep you informed about connections and gate changes, helping reduce missed flights and travel stress with timely alerts and clear airport information.

Integrate your Mileage Plan to view balances, earn and redeem miles, and access targeted offers like upgrades and companion fares. Personalized itineraries, saved traveler profiles, and Apple Wallet integration speed up checkout and boarding, delivering a loyalty-focused experience that maximizes convenience and value for frequent flyers.

Cons

Users occasionally encounter stability and performance problems with the Alaska Airlines app. Crashes, slow loading, or freezing—especially on older phones or with large itineraries—can prevent timely check-in, boarding pass access, or real-time updates. These interruptions cause stress during travel and sometimes force users to switch to the website or kiosks.

The app’s handling of codeshare and partner flights can be inconsistent. Seat maps, upgrade options, baggage allowances, and mileage credit details for partner airlines are not always fully integrated, making complex itineraries harder to manage in-app. Travelers frequently need to use the desktop site or contact partners directly for full control.

In-app customer support tools and notifications sometimes fall short. Automated chat responses can be slow or unhelpful, and push notifications for gate changes or delays may be delayed or duplicated. Offline access is limited, so when connectivity drops travelers can lose boarding passes and timely updates, complicating airport navigation.
